Media on the Costa Blanca

Medios de comunicación

Where to find out what is happening in Altea and around it — in Spanish, German, English and Dutch. Press, radio frequencies, television.

1. In Spanish

  • Información — the daily paper for Alicante province, with its own edition for the Marina Baja. The main source for municipal politics. informacion.es
  • Levante-EMV and Las Provincias — the two large Valencian dailies, focused on regional politics.
  • La Marina Plaza — a digital daily for the Marina Alta and Marina Baja, close to local affairs. lamarinaplaza.com
  • AQUÍ Medios de Comunicación — monthly local papers, with a Marina Baja edition.
  • Official gazettes — what counts legally appears in the Butlletí Oficial de la Província d’Alacant and the Diari Oficial de la Generalitat Valenciana: bylaws, payment windows, tenders. dogv.gva.es

2. In English

  • Euro Weekly News — free weekly in English, widely distributed along the coast
  • The Olive Press — English-language paper for Spain, with a Costa Blanca section
  • Spectrum FM and Bay Radio — English-language radio, frequencies below

This section dates quickly. English-language titles on the Costa Blanca have closed or moved online repeatedly — the long-established Costa Blanca News no longer appears. Check the names here at a kiosk before relying on them.

3. In German and Dutch

  • Costa Blanca Nachrichten (CBN) — the established German-language weekly, in print and online, with its own newsroom. costanachrichten.com
  • Costa Blanca Zeitung (CBZ) — free German-language weekly, distributed in shops and public buildings. cbz.es
  • Costa Blanca Radio — Dutch-language station for the coast

4. Radio: frequencies in the Marina Baja

For Altea, the Marina Baja or Benidorm frequencies apply. Stations move on the dial from time to time; the reliable figure is always on the station’s own site.

À Punt RàdioValencian the regional public broadcaster

Costa Blanca Radio is advertised sometimes on 101.4 and sometimes on 101.5 FM. On the slopes above Altea reception depends a great deal on where you stand; most stations also broadcast online, which is more reliable.

5. Television

  • À Punt — the Valencian public broadcaster, in Valencian, with regional news. apuntmedia.es
  • TVE, Antena 3, Telecinco, La Sexta, Cuatro — the national channels, free to air on digital terrestrial
  • Municipal broadcasts — council meetings and events, announced at altea.es
  • Foreign channels — by satellite (Astra 19.2° East) or IPTV. Many urbanisations have a communal dish; individual installations are subject to the planning rules on façades, which are strict in the old town.

6. Emergencies and storms

Warnings from the regional government do not come through the press but through the emergency portal and its app: 112cv.gva.es. It carries the alert levels for storms and fire risk, both of which affect Altea directly — in summer a more important source than any newspaper.

7. About this list

Frequencies and titles have been compiled from the stations’ and publishers’ own information. Both change: papers close, stations move. Where it matters, the provider’s own site counts, not this list.

The list is for orientation only. It is neither a recommendation nor advertising, and there is no commercial relationship with any of the media named.

Compiled August 2026. The media market on the coast is in motion: titles close and stations change frequency. This page ages faster than the others — worth checking at least twice a year.
